Terms of Use

Last updated July 23, 2026

Candor is an invite-only beta. The short version: be reasonable with the service, your research data stays yours, treat your respondents fairly, and beta software comes without warranties.

01Who can use Candor

You need an account to run studies. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, and access to a workspace is limited to invited members. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. Candor is not directed to anyone under 16.

02Your research data

Studies, questions, respondent answers, transcripts, and themes belong to you or your organization. You give us a limited license to host and process that content only to operate the service: running interviews, generating follow-ups, checking question style, synthesizing themes, answering your questions about your results, and delivering alerts you configure. We do not sell your data and we do not use it to train AI models.

03Your respondents

You run the studies; your respondents are your relationship. When you distribute a survey link you are responsible for:

  • having a lawful basis to collect answers from your respondents,
  • telling them who is running the study and why,
  • not collecting sensitive personal data unless you truly need it and the law allows it,
  • following anti-spam and consent rules wherever you share the link.

Candor keeps respondent sessions pseudonymous by default: answers are tied to a random session token, not a name or email, unless you add identifying context yourself.

04Acceptable use

You agree not to use Candor to:

  • run unlawful, deceptive, or harassing research,
  • impersonate someone else or misrepresent who is asking,
  • upload malware or content that infringes someone's rights,
  • probe, overload, or disrupt the service or other customers' data.

05AI-generated content

Follow-up questions, style checks, and themes are generated by AI. They can be imperfect or wrong. Review AI output before you rely on it for decisions, and treat themes as a starting point for reading the underlying answers, not a replacement.

06Beta status

Candor is under active development. Features may change, pause, or be removed while we are in beta, and availability is not guaranteed. We aim to give notice before material changes. How we handle your account data is covered by the Privacy Policy.

07Disclaimers

The service is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

08Liability

To the extent permitted by law, neither side is liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for claims arising out of the service is capped at the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 100 US dollars if you have paid nothing.

09Termination

You can stop using Candor at any time and ask us to delete your workspace data. We may suspend or terminate access for a breach of these terms, with notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive (your data ownership, disclaimers, liability limits) survive termination.

10Governing law

These terms are a contract between you and Candid Conversations Inc., the company that operates Candor. They are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
